Rockin' Out As Me

I spent the majority of my life hating my legs.

They are white (I’m red-headed) and thicker than I’d like. In my 20s, I would only wear pants and jeans, always in search of ways to conceal my bottom half. Even on the hottest days of summer school at UT Knoxville, I’d wear jeans to class. In fact, before Sevier Skirts, I had a pants company called “Panic Pants”.  It is a funny story, the story of Panic Pants, maybe I’ll tell that story in a future post.

Eventually, in my 30s, I realized that this embarrassment over my legs was self-damaging.  I started to look up and look around. I often would see someone with a physical handicap or birth defect that prevented them from walking correctly or stole their ability to run or exercise. And there I was completely healthy with legs that worked perfectly...was I really complaining because the shape of them wasn’t as pretty as my friends’?

Having started in a place where I hated my legs, it seems ironic that years later, I actually own a business that makes skirts and dresses that require me to show my legs. So, now, I slather on self-tanning lotion about 4x a week, throw on a skirt, and just rock out as me.

The best part? No one is even looking at my legs because my skirt is so cute!

In my 40s, I now often think about how lucky I am to have these legs, the legs that allow me to jog to avoid being caught in the rain, the legs that allow me to carry my child up and down the steps, the legs that let me stand for hours at a cutting table.

Heading to Neil Diamond!

My goal is to help you achieve that love too. Together, we’ll look at those stems of yours and take 3 things into consideration, your height, leg shape, and your personal taste. We’ll pick the length that best flatters your legs, showcasing everything you’ve got in the best possible way. Then we’ll pick a fabric that brings out the best of your coloring, creating an overall look that perfectly compliments you.

With 13 years of skirt expertise under my belt, I know I can take your confidence to its highest potential, no matter how you currently feel about your body. The result? You’ll have plenty of space to be thankful for everything you’re workin’ with.
